About Betway
Betway was established in 2006, initially as a bookmaker but soon with online casino products as well. They are operated by Betway Ltd and thus independent. Having been around for well over a decade, the casino operates around the world, including in India. Security and licensing – Are they trustworthy?
Let’s look at the positives first. Betway is, as mentioned, licensed and regulated through the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. The UKGC is meticulous in upholding its regulations and frequently sanction infractions.
Whilst Betway has had a bit of a dodgy past some years ago, there are no sanctions on record with the UKGC, so from this viewpoint, one might consider Betway a safe casino and bookmaker. It is worth a lot that there are no sanctions or penalties on record, which is something we keep in mind in our review.
However, not everyone is happy with the bookmaker and AskGamblers has issued a warning against the site because of too many unresolved complaints. AskGamblers is a huge and well-known online casino forum and reviewer and often act as mediators on behalf of customers who consider themselves duped by a bookmaker or casino.
We know of many casinos they work with successfully to resolve issues. But at the time of this review, only 7 out of 33 open complaints have been resolved, which is a very low number. Bad reviews on TrustPilot make up currently about 11% of all reviews and they tend to be longer, explaining what went wrong. Here Betway usually responds, however, which is not the case on the AskGamblers website.
From where we stand, Betway is well regulated and even works with eCOGRA and IBAS, which is more than can be said for many other bookmakers. That’s commendable and they do engage with complainants. At the same time, if you are at all worried about depositing and playing here and later safely withdrawing, we recommend you start small. Deposit only a little money, perhaps don’t claim the bonus (to avoid wagering requirements) and withdraw a little here and there.
